Changes to French tax rules set to hit Britons with homes in France

UK residents owning property in France are likely to see an increase in the French taxes they pay from 1 January 2012.
This is in connection with the introduction of a new annual tax levied on non-French residents owning property in France that is not rented out. This is in addition to the taxe d’habitation and will be at a rate of 20% on the notional rental value.
The French parliament is expected to adopt the changes by mid-July, but they are still subject to amendment.
