HMRC target eBay Dealers and Traders
We have previously mentioned the crackdown by HMRC on plumbers and business’s who’s turnover exceeds the VAT threshold without registering for VAT.
HMRC have now announced that they will focus on:
- Those who provide private tuition and coaching. This includes people providing private lessons and could also include fitness/dance/lifestyle coaches through to national curriculum subject tutors.
- E-marketplaces such as eBay. This will cover those using e-marketplaces to buy and sell goods as a trade or business and fail to pay the tax owed.
- Trades people. This builds on HMRC's plumbers' campaign, and gives other trades the opportunity to come forward and declare unpaid tax.
