Chartered Accountancy Training Contract Opportunity
The Position
BPU Chartered Accountants is looking for ambitious graduates who are prepared to work hard within a team environment and help the firm to realise its goals. We are currently offering the following opportunity:
- A three year Chartered accountancy (ACA) training contract to start on 1st September 2025
- Formal tuition provided by Kaplan to take you through the various stages of the Chartered Accountancy examinations
- Help from student mentors and a training manager at the firm
- An opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients in a number of sectors
- Achieve a recognised and prestigious qualification
- Work in a close and friendly team where there are regular social activities and charity events to get involved in.
We offer a competitive starting salary with increments during the three year training contract. All training costs and study leave are paid for by the firm for first sittings of examinations.
About the Role
- Learn a wealth of accounting and finance skills from book-keeping through to the audit process from qualified experts
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements for limited companies, LLPs, and charities from trial balance stage
- Work in the audit and accounts team to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Provide assistance on statutory audits as you continue to learn on the job
- Develop your project management skills to meet work and budget deadlines for clients
- Learn a variety of accounting software programmes including Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
The Person
- A 2:1 (or higher) class of degree (actual or predicted) is required
- Must be a team player
- Good communication skills
- Ability to think outside of the box and want to contribute ideas
- Have ambition and determination to succeed.

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: You must have a minimum of 2 years Paraplanning work experience in an independent financial advice practice.
- Advanced pensions experience is preferred as a key element of our business is advising on pre, at and post retirement planning; including drawdown, pension switching, SIPPs and SSAS.
- You should ideally have a good working knowledge of Iress XPLAN, Defaqto Engage, CashCalc, Assureweb, O&M Pension Profiler and ATEB Suitability, plus Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Qualifications: You will already hold an appropriate financial planning Diploma Level 4 or other Paraplanning qualification plus minimum GCSE grades A-C/1-3 in Mathematics and English.

IFA Administrator

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: You should have a minimum of 2 years work experience in a financial advice administration role, with a solid understanding of back-office systems, ideally IRESS XPLAN.
- Qualifications: Ideally, you have already gained some financial services qualifications or hold an appropriate Diploma Level 4 plus minimum GCSE grades A-C/1-3 in Mathematics and English.
- Communication Skills: You should be willing and able to communicate professionally with clients and providers.

Location: Cardiff
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
Job Purpose:
BPU is one of the largest Independent firms of Chartered Accountants based in South Wales and is looking for an experienced and client focused Tax Advisor to join its professional tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax specialist to join a friendly practice and learn and develop in the role. The Tax Advisor would be undertaking a mixed tax role encompassing both personal and corporation tax. The firm is offering a competitive salary and benefits package as follows:

- Deliver an effective and efficient personal and corporate tax compliance function for the practice including owner managed businesses and groups
- Build on the firm’s relationship with its clients
- Communicate with HMRC on a regular basis
- Develop and maintain the highest standards of personal and corporate tax compliance
- Identify, communicate and implement tax planning opportunities
- Responsibility for ensuring that all filing and reporting deadlines are met on a timely basis.
