Trading advice if there is a no-deal Brexit
If you move goods or services into or out of the EU (including the UK) you need an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number from HMRC.
Companies who do not have an EORI number will be sent one by HMRC. If you haven’t received one you may experience increased costs and delays when trading. Companies that have only ever traded exclusively within the EU up until now will not have a number. Any company without an EORI number will not be allowed to trade with EU member states after Brexit.
To register for an EORI number visit this link on the HMRC website: https://www.gov.uk/eori.
If you already have an EORI number that starts with GB, you can continue to use it. It will be 12 digits long. If you’re registered for VAT it will include your VAT registration number.HMRC have also published documents on how to get your business ready for Brexit. These are designed to help traders decide which procedures to use after Brexit depending on whether they are importing or exporting goods to and from the EU.
